WM DAVID “RINGEYE” JOHNSON, SR
Wm David “Ring eye” Johnson, Sr. age 66, of Palatka, died Wednesday July 28, 2010 at Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn, North Carolina after a sudden illness. He was a native of Dunn, North Carolina and had lived in Palatka since 1969, coming from Homestead. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Palatka and had worked for many years as a building contractor. He had volunteered and donated much to the Putnam County Shrine Club and was an avid Gator fan and NASCAR fan. He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with his friends. He never met a stranger and was loved by all. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and being outdoors. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Peggy Sue Torbert and Jenny Carver. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Charlene Johnson of Palatka; daughter, Vicky Willick & husband, Mark; son, William David Johnson, Jr., all of Palatka; 3 sisters, Joann Hodges & husband, Gene of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Carolyn Stone & husband, Ray and Connie Webb & husband, Skip, all of Dunn, North Carolina; 3 brothers, Marvin Earl Johnson & wife, Kay, Donald Bruce Johnson & wife, Jo, and Brent Johnson & wife, Janet, all of Dunn, North Carolina; brothers-in-law, Tommy Torbert, Sr. of Homestead and Kim Burrows of Salt Springs; 3 grandchildren, Ashley Johnson, Paige Pacetti and Dayton Johnson, all of Palatka; a step-grandchild, Ryan Willick of Jacksonville; his closest friends and co-workers, Sammy Anderson of San Mateo and Rodney Barksdale of Palatka; his companion dog, Gator along with several nieces nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. Saturday July 31st at the Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Skip Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill West Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 3:00 – 4:00 P.M. at the Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka. In celebration of his life a memorial video will be shown.
