There are so many rewarding memories of Josie (Sister DeLoach) and her family when I reflect on my childhood. She and her family are a large part of my spiritual heritage. I loved her dearly and respected her. One short story of her influence for good in my life is: when I was 13 I gave a short talk in church. At the end of the meeting Sister DeLoach, with enthusiasm, told me that I was very good at giving a talk. I decided at that time that I really liked giving a talk.  I enjoy giving speeches to this day and take the opportunity when possible to speak to service organizations. To the children of Josie Deloach I say, "Your mother was a fine example of a devoted mother. I loved her."

Dear Family:
Your mother was an amazingly, compassionate woman with love to share and give beyond the embrace of her arms.  I know you and yours will miss her profoundly, hold tight to one another and be the strength she would have wanted you to be for one another.  May her words echo in your mind, heart and soul, for the way we carry on, much matters to those who love and need us.  Your mother is forever a part of you, time, distance, seperation and love can never alter this.  We have precious memories of growing up together, mama and Aunt Josie were like having two mothers, I continue to say I was her favorite, but, she did not have favorites, she loved everyone of us and we were honored to call her "Aunt", how special was this?  It is so hard to let go, even knowing what we know in the after life.  You will have good and bad moments, but, let the tears flow when you are sad and personally, please call on me, day or night, I'll be there for you just like you have been there for us.  We played together, attended church together and sometimes did not see eye to eye, but, we were blessed, so blessed to have this time together, we were so close and very few people are able to say this, we have grown up now and are in our golden years!  We did not want Aunt Josie to suffer, the same with our mother, it is just hard for now, maybe a little selfish, but, what a great reunion for those who passed before her, they are not suffering and in a beautiful place!  Time does heal the heart, I know this to be a fact.  Aunt Josie made this world a better place to be in, she made a difference, she was always so proud of her family, she touched so many hearts in her life, she never judged people, not one unkind word, she has taught all of us a thing or two.  She was just special and I have always wanted to be like her, she was my everything!  Please call on us for anything you need, if I have it, it is yours, just for the asking, she was my favorite and she was my hero.  We have lost two great human beings in the span of 9 months, but!
, really
she lived a good life and she will be missed by so many, let's come together and count on each other now.  We love you all so much!
Love, Joan (cousin) and Dwight Wilson

I am sorry to hear about your mother's passing. She was my Seminary teacher for all four years of high school and I truly loved her-I would have done anything for her. The only program for youth in the church that ever worked for me was Seminary, and I know that a lot of that had to do with Sister DeLoach. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Josie was one of the kindest people I have ever known. I have missed her smiling face. Palatka is not the same without her or H.D.
My deepest sympathy to your family.
