JILES H. HORN
Jiles Henry “Jake” Horn, age 90, of Palatka, died Monday June 21, 2010 at Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, Florida. He was born August 15, 1919 in Jacksonville where he lived until he retired from the Jacksonville Port Authority and moved to Palatka where he lived for 25 years. He was a very active and loyal member of St. James United Methodist Church in Palatka until 6 years ago when he moved to “The Fountains” in St. Petersburg. He loved and served his country in WW II for 5 years as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army. After he returned home, he married his wife, Cora Horn on July 4, 1947. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora D. Horn, parents, Jiles and Lucille Horn and sisters, Carmine Love and Geraldine McCallum. He is survived by nephews, Douglas Love, John Edward McKinley, Marvin McKinley, Mark Dyal, Ben Dyal, Herman Dyal, David Dyal, and Howard Dyal and by nieces, Elaine Krauza, Kay Sikes, Rene Liles, Paula Barlow, Joy Estes, Mary Stephens, Barbara Hollis, Carol Dyal, Linda Dyal, Debi Ward, Patsy Courier, Betsy Coffey and Susan Martin and many other great nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday June 26th at the St. James United Methodist Church with Rev. Hardy B. Sandlin, III officiating. Burial will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, Georgia with the U.S. Army conducting military honors. Friends may call Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at the St. James United Methodist Church.
