ALLINE HARDEMAN HEFFINGTON

             Alline Hardeman Heffington, age 99, of Nashville, Tennessee, died peacefully Tuesday March 2, 2010 at Carestone Assisted Living in Brentwood, TN, after a brief illness.  She was born and raised in Henderson, TN and graduated from Freed Hardeman College and began teaching there in Chester County.  After marriage, she lived and taught school in Iron City, TN.  She moved to Nashville in 1943 and lived there for over 40 years.  After retirement, she lived in Huntsville, AL, Birmingham, AL, and finally moved back home to Nashville in 2006, having spent many winter months in Florida.  Being a faithful child of God and raising a Christian family was the focus of her life.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and cared deeply about all of her extended family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Lon & Lorraine Hardeman; her husband of 64 years, Elam Heffington; her beloved step-mother, Flossie Hardeman; brothers, Carl Hardeman, Guy Hardeman, and Dorsey Hardeman.

     She is survived by 2 daughters, Alice Overturf & husband C.L. Overturf, Jr. of Palatka, FL and Lucy Watrous & husband Tommy of Nashville; 4 sons, Douglas Heffington & wife Georgia of Huntsville, AL, Ned Heffington & wife Suzanne of Birmingham, AL, David Heffington & wife Nancy of Columbia, TN, and Sidney Heffington & wife Tami of Lawrenceville, GA; 4 sisters, Agnes Evans of Knoxville, TN, June Hemby and Donna Holliday, both of Atlanta, GA, and Ellenor Howell of Sacramento, CA along with 24 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held 4:00 P.M. Friday March 5th at the Crieve Hall Church of Christ in Nashville. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Entombment  will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday March 6th at Valhalla Memorial Gardens in Huntsville.  Friends may call Thursday 6:00-8:00 P.M. or Friday from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. at the Crieve Hall Church of Christ in Nashville.  Memorial donations can be made to: Healing Hands, 455 McNally Drive, Nashville, TN, 37211 or to: Freed Hardeman University Valerie Lowe Watrous Memorial Scholarship Fund, 158 E.
