WALTER T. WOOD 

             Walter Thomas Wood, age 65, of Interlachen, passed away, Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville.  He was a native of Drummonds, TN and had resided in Putnam County for the past 3 years, moving there from Naples, FL, where he had lived most of his life.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII.  Mr. Wood had owned and operated Frank’s Plumbing in Naples for 31 years.  As his hobbies he enjoyed fishing, airboats, piddlin in his workshop and riding his John Deere tractor. 

            He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gail Wood, his daughter, Laurie Mearsheimer and husband, Charles of Naples, his mother, Opal McKenzie of Fairview, NC, 2 sisters, Linda Wood of Asheville, NC and Vicki Humphries of Interlachen, 2 grandchildren, Zachary and Miranda Mearsheimer.

            Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Interlachen.
