JOHN H. LINTON John H. Linton, age 83, of Palatka, died Thursday February 18, 2010 at Putnam Community Medical Center after an extended illness. He was a native of Lexington, Kentucky and had lived in Palatka since 1975, coming from Colorado Springs, Colorado. He retired from the U.S. Army having served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of Mission Road Baptist Church in Palatka. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Linton, a son, Richard Linton, 2 sisters, Mary Dell Wells and Laura Wells and 3 brothers, Hershel Wells, Roy Wells, and Lawrence Wells. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean Linton of Palatka; daughter, Julie Linton of Palatka; 2 sons, John Linton of Palatka and David Linton of Fayetteville, Arkansas; daughter-in-law, Nancy Linton of Palatka; brother, Earl Whitlow of Calumet City, Illinois; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Monday February 22nd at the Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Bro. Virgil Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens with full military honors conducted by the U.S. Army. Friends may call Sunday from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M. at the Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
