WILLIAM K. “BILLY” ODOM William K. “Billy” Odom, age 66 of Palatka, passed away, Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Putnam Community Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of LaFollette, Tennessee, he had resided in Palatka since 1956 coming from Jasper. Prior to moving to Jasper, he had also resided in Seville and in Oak Hill, Florida. Billy served as a small arms instructor with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired in 2003 as a quality control supervisor in tissue converting at Georgia Pacific, where he had worked for the past 33 years. He was a member of the OPIU at Georgia Pacific. A member of the NRA, Billy was an avid gun collector and had a curio and relic license in firearms. Prior to declining health he had been an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed doing landscape and gardening. He was preceded in death by his mother Edna F. Odom. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sandra H. Odom, 2 daughters, Susan Lewis and husband, Randy, and Judy Wilkinson all of Palatka, his father, William M. Odom of Palatka, 4 grandchildren, Sandy Brinker and husband, Daniel, Joshua Lewis and fiancé, Lindsay Ward, Nicholas Lacaze and girlfriend, Casey Johns and Brian Wilkinson and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, Feb. 20th at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home with Bro. Benny Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Palatka Memorial Gardens with the U.S. Air Force conducting military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday.
