HOWARD JAMES WILLIAMS 

             Howard James Williams, age 66 of Interlachen, passed away, Monday, February 1, 2010 at Shands at UF in Gainesville following a brief illness.  A native of Homestead, FL, he resided in Interlachen since 2004 coming from Homestead.  Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired after 21 years of service as a Master Sergeant.  He also worked from 1984 until 1997 as a telecommunications specialist for the (DEA) Drug Enforcement Agency.  Howard was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Deadwood, SD and the Ham Radio Operators of Interlachen, his call name being WB4PBX.  In his spare time he loved working on computers and electronics.  He had attended St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Interlachen and while living in Immokalee he had attended the United Methodist Church.

            He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Anna Williams, 3 sons, James Williams and wife, Donna of Oregon, Sean Williams and wife, Janet, Kendall, FL, Brian Williams and wife, Lauren of Homestead, a daughter, Patricia Williams of Ft. Lauderdale, 2 sisters, Priscilla “Tiny” Rhodes and husband, Gene of Okeechobee, Glenda Passmore of Immokalee, Debbie Mitchell and husband, Jim of Ft. Wayne, IN, a brother, Lawrence Williams of Sandy, UT, 8 grandchildren, Matthew Williams, Christina Williams, Brittany Williams, George Finn, Amanda Finn, Daniel Williams, Chloe Williams and Sadie Lynn Williams and 1 great-grandson, Tyler Shane Temples.    

A memorial mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Friday, February 5, 2010 at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Interlachen with Father Robert Napier officiating.  Full Military honors will be presented by the U.S. Air Force.  The family will receive friends at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Interlachen on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Howards wife and family.  I consider it a great privledge to have had the chance to spend the time I did with him.  The time that he spent helping me get started in Amateur Radio, encouragement, and spare parts.  He was a good friend that will not be forgotten.
