HARRY C. “JIM” GUMTOW Harry C. “Jim” Gumtow, age 88, of East Palatka, Florida, died Tuesday November 24, 2009 at Palatka Health Care Center after an extended illness. He was a native of Silver Creek, New York and lived in East Palatka since 1966, coming from Washington, D.C. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Silver Creek and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked as a construction engineer with Brookfield & Baylor Construction Company for 30 years in New York City and was a member and past president of the Over 50 Dance Club in Palatka. He is survived by 3 sons, James E. Gumtow of Georgetown, Florida, Jack Gumtow & wife, Patty of Morganza, Maryland, and Richard Gumtow of Annapolis, Maryland; daughter, Judy Gumtow Thomas & husband, Johnny of Palatka, Florida; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at a later date at Glenwood Cemetery in Silver Creek, New York. Memorial donations can be made to the: American Cancer Society, 600 Zeagler Drive, Palatka, Florida, 32177. |
