Alma Cora Sherwood

Alma Cora Sherwood, 92, of Palatka, passed away Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at Palatka Health Care Center following a short illness. She was a native of Crescent City and had been a lifelong resident of Putnam County. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and seamstress work. She was also a great cook, loved to fish and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Sherwood.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Warren Sherwood and wife, Barbara of East Palatka, Thomas Allen Sherwood of East Palatka, two daughters, Emily Sherwood Rightmire and Annette Peters, both of Palatka, nine grandchildren, Sheryl Bray, Janice Simmons and husband, Scott, Charles Sherwood and wife, Kerrie, Connie Rightmire, Lindy Rightmire, Edward Killebrew and wife, Wendy, Kathy Sherwood, Thomas Sherwood and wife, Leigh Ann, Chris Sherwood and wife, Ashley; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Brother Bill Wing and Brother Benny Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill West Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. on Wednesday until the time of service at 11 a.m.
