PERRY KITE, JR.

Perry Kite, Jr., age 79 of Bostwick, passed away, Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center following an extended illness.  A native of Starke, he had lived in Putnam County since 1953 coming from Bradford County.  He retired after 28 years as a heavy equipment operator with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  He had also worked with the Palatka and Starke Police Departments.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to the mountains and was of the Baptist faith. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Lessie Kite, a son, Michael Kirkland, a sister, Juanita Fillyaw, and a granddaughter, Shannon Wilkinson.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Betty Kite, 2 sons, Shane K. Kite and Mitchie Wilkinson, 3 daughters, Penny Baggs and husband, Danny, Glenda Peebly and Maurica Heisler and husband, Jamie, 2 brothers, Dennis Kite and Danny Kite, 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, November 13, 2009 at Bostwick Baptist Church with Brothers John Ingram and David Eddins officiating.  Burial will follow at Bostwick Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM (Today) Thursday evening at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, 6400 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Florida 32177.
