BARBARA J. ALEXANDER

  Barbara Jean Alexander, age 77 of St. Augustine, passed away, Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine following an extended illness.  She was a native of St. Louis, Missouri and resided in St. Augustine for the past 15 years moving there from Palatka.  She had worked as a lab technician with Dr. Charles Barrineau and Dr. Fairfax Montague in Palatka and later with the St. Augustine General Hospital and Flagler Hospital.  She had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Palatka. 

She is survived by her husband of 56 years. Walt Alexander, 2 sons, James Alexander and wife, Shanna of Palatka, Keith Alexander and wife, Debra of The Woodlands, TX, a daughter, Lynne Powell and husband, Dr. James Powell of St. Augustine, 4 grandchildren, Josh Alexander and wife, Regina of Palatka, Gary Wilson and wife, Sharee of St. Augustine, Jeremy Alexander and wife, Tonya of Palatka and Leslie Alexander of The Woodlands, TX and 5 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Dr. Ken Johnson officiating. 

Flowers are gratefully accepted or memorial contributions can be made to The Kiwanis Club of the Azalea City Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 508, Palatka, Florida, 32178.

We had a beautiful service today to celebrate my Mom's life.  We are grateful to all those who were able to attend and to all those who sent notes, flowers, donations and those who prayed for Mom and our family.  It was a hard day but a good day as God was glorified.
