GEORGE R. CONE, SR. George R. Cone, Sr., age 62, went to be with his Lord on Thursday September 24, 2009 at his home in Bannerville after a short illness. Daddy had been a lifelong resident of the Bardin and Bannerville area and a pulpwooder by trade and a millwright at the old I.T.T. Rayonier in Palatka. Daddy also had many talents including, being a mechanic, carpenter, and a gardener. He would tell you jokingly that he was a “Jack of all Trades and a Master of None”. Daddy loved being the daddy, grandpa and great-grandpa that he was. He also loved to hunt and fish and he especially loved his family, his friends and his “Little Country Church” which was Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Bardin. Daddy was a hardworking, good-hearted and humble man who enjoyed his “Old Gospel Music”, helping others in anyway that he could and especially serving his Lord. Daddy is rejoicing and joining his family, his momma and daddy, Ruby and Tillman Cone, his brother, Richard Cone and his baby sister, Ethel Mae, in Heaven. Daddy is survived by his love of 43 years, Sarah Cone of Bannerville and his children, daughter, Loretta Griffis & husband, Kevin of Starke; sons, Tillman Cone & wife, Angie of Bannerville and George Cone, Jr. & wife, Cissy of Bardin; grandchildren, Mark Cone & wife Amanda of Interlachen, Savannah Hopkins & husband, Alex and Katie Lynn Hackney, all of Blue Springs, Missouri, Phoebe Young & husband, Josh of Palatka, Paul “Bubba” Cone of Bardin, Catlin Cone and Hannah Cone, both of Bannerville and his great-granddaughter, Maranda Lee Cone of Interlachen and his soon to be born great-grandson, Morgan Anthony Cone. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday September 26th at Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Young officiating. Burial will follow in Etoniah Cemetery in Bardin.
