BETTY J. RYALS

 Betty Jean Payne Ryals, age 84, passed away, Friday, August 7, 2009 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka.  She was born in Jessup, GA and lived most of her life in South Putnam County.  She and her family traveled for 22 &1/2 years supporting her husband as he served in the U.S. Navy.  For the last eight years she enjoyed spending her summers at Buffalo Campground in Blowing Rock, NC.  She was a loyal housewife, mother and a member of the Eastern Star.  She was also a member of Live Oak Golf and Country Club and First Presbyterian Church of Crescent City. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Ryals and a son, Freddie Michael Ryals.

She is survived by sons, William “Lee” Ryals and wife, Alice of Palatka and Kenneth Wayne Ryals of Ft. Lauderdale, sister, Evelyn Agnew of St. Augustine, 5 grandchildren, Stacey Johnson and husband, Eric, Kevin Ryals and wife, Katie, David Ryals and wife, Cindy, Nicole Cope and husband, Troy and Vanessa Ryals, 3 great-grandchildren, Scott Johnson, Ethan Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1400 Husson Avenue, Palatka, FL 32177 with the Dr. Eugene Maddox officiating.  The family will receive visitors at the church from 10:00 AM Saturday until time of service at 11:00 AM. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, 6400 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Florida 32177 or to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1400 Husson Avenue, Palatka, Florida 32177.

Dear Lee and Kenny and families, I am so saddened to learn of your mother's death.  She  and your dad were always very loving and caring in-law's and I am grateful for that.  I feel blessed to have known then.  You are always in my thoughts.
