SCOTT DANIEL PEDERSON

Scott Daniel Pederson, age 31, died while saving his children on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Upper Barker Reservoir in Garfield County, Utah. He was born October 27, 1977 in Birmingham, Alabama to Paula Yvonne DeLoach and David Ralph Pederson, one of eight children. He married Shaunna Frost on December 22, 2000 in Orderville, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized on December 22, 2001 in the St. George LDS Temple.

Scott was raised in St. Augustine, Florida. He served a mission for the LDS Church in the Oslo Norway Mission, then joined the US Army and served in Texas, North Carolina, and Korea. He moved his wife and kids to St. George, Utah in 2006, and joined them a year later when he was Honorably Discharged from the Army.

Scott was trained as an X-ray Technician in the Army. He continued to work in Radiology in his civilian life, working as a CT Tech and as an MRI Tech the past few years. He was currently working for IHC in St. George.

Scott was always confident of his abilities. He enjoyed competition of all kinds, playing outdoor games, sports, and board and card games with his family and friends. He greatly enjoyed surfing, scuba diving, mountain biking, and rock climbing. Wherever he was, he always had a song in his heart and a skip in his step.

Scott’s primary concern the past few years has been his family. He always made time for his sons when he came home in the evenings, spending time wrestling and playing with them. He was a great father, husband, brother and son. His unique sense of humor, sharp wit, and love of life will be greatly missed.

Survivors include wife Shaunna Pederson of St. George, UT; children Gabriel Scott Pederson, Noah Paul Pederson, and Triston Jesse Pederson; parents Paula & David Pederson of Bloomington, UT; mother- & father-in-law Pamela and J. H. Frost of Washington; brothers and sisters Matthew Pederson of St. Augustine, Florida, Tracy (Michael) Thompson of St. George, UT, Kelly (Curt) Bunting of Santa Clara, UT, Jason (Sylvia) Pederson of Phoenix, AZ, and Jody (Kennon) Wright, Paul Pederson and Julie Pederson all of Lake City, Florida; grandmother Josie DeLoach of Palatka, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

Burial with military honors will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery on Thursday following the services. Arrangements were made with Mosdell Mortuary of Kanab, UT.

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, proclaiming, ‘WOW, WHAT A RIDE!!’"
