ROLAND LEE TANNER

Roland Lee Tanner, 75, of Albertville, Alabama passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Marshall Medical Center North.  He was a native of Florahome, and lived in the West Putnam areas most all of his life until moving to Albertville 12 years ago.  After graduating from Melrose High School he worked as a cowboy at the Rainbow Ranch and then for 24 years at Hudson Pulp & Paper.  He also became a licensed real estate agent and was the property manager for Florida Rock Industries Grandin Properties.  While in Albertville he was a member of the Fellowship Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Blanche and Oliver Tanner, his first wife, Kay Tanner and a brother, Donald Tanner.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Tanner of Albertville, a son, Alan Tanner (Joanne) of Melrose, 4 daughters, Karen Varnes (Ed) of Grandin, Louise Osborn (Ross) of St. Augustine, Brenda Sweeney of Florahome and Melinda Sturdivant (Larry) of Grandin, a brother, Leon Tanner (Diana) of Florahome, 3 sisters, Clarine Beach (Don) , Margalee Tanner and Theo Dodge all of Palatka, 12 grandchildren, Lee Tanner, Lauren Tanner, Kaylon Varnes, Carmen McKinney, Tyler Sweeney, Derek Sweeney, Jesse Reed, Brian Reed, Trevor Reed, Drew Tompkins, Christen Tompkins and Gabriella Osborn,  and 1 soon to be great grandchild, Maxx Brewster McKinney.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Palatka Memorial Gardens with Bro. Charles Litzell officiating.  No public visitation is scheduled.

Family requests memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004  or the March of Dimes, 1275 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains, NY 10605.
