Patsy Jo Teaford Patsy Jo Teaford Byers age 58 of Hickory, North Carolina formally of Palatka passed away Saturday June 27th at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina after an extended illness. Patsy was born July 20th, 1950, in Clifton Forge, Virginia and grew up in Buchanan, Virginia. Patsy graduated from James River High School in 1969. She then married and moved to Hickory, North Carolina before coming to Palatka in 1984. Patsy worked and Walmart in Palatka for than 10 years. She graduated from CNA School in 1996 and went to work for Putnam Memorial Nursing Home. Patsy started working at Putnam Community Medical Center in 1998 thru 2006. She then moved back to Hickory, North Carolina. Patsy loved the outdoors, animals, the beach ,and the mountains. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. On her off days she loved to go fishing with her family. She loved her job, working with patients in the hospital and caring for them. Patsy was a life long member of Forest Grove Baptist Church in Eagle Rock Virginia and she attended First Baptist Church of San Mateo. She was preceded in death by her Father Gordon Everett Teaford, step-son Jason Byers, and mother-in-law, Annie Hill Byers. She is survived by her mother Naomi Teaford of Wirtz VA, Her Husband of 35 years Cecil Byers, Sr. of Hickory, NC. Son and Daughter In-Law Chris and Cherin Teaford of Hollister, Daughter Jacueline Wright of Hickory N.C., Step Children David Laastad, Cecil Byers, Jr., Jeremy Byers, and Katherine Glazebrook, all of Hickory, N.C., Father and Mother-In-Law Melvin “Jack” and Mary R Byers, Sr. of East Palatka, Brothers and Sisters-In-Law Mike and Janie Teaford of Gretna, Va., and Steve and Judy Teaford of Shady Springs W.VA., Sisters and Brothers-In-Law Donna and Danny Rose of Wirtz, VA, and Brenda and Alton Richards of Roanoke, VA. 14 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grand Children, and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held July 1st at Forest Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Eagle Rock, VA. A Memorial Service and video tribute in honor of Patsy’s life will be held Friday Evening July 3rd at 6:00 p.m. at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Putnam County Humane Society, 112 Norma Street, Hollister, FL 32147 or to a charity benefiting children.
