EUGENE R. ALOIA 

  Eugene Ralph Aloia, age 83, of San Mateo, passed away, Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Putnam Community Medical Center following an extended illness.  He was a native of Garfield, NJ and resided in San Mateo since 2001 coming from Jupiter, where he had resided for 34 years.  Gene was a meat cutter and worked with Sara Fredrick’s in Palm Beach.  He had also owned Gene’s House of Meat in Riviera Beach and while residing in Garfield, New Jersey, Aloia’s Meat Market.   In addition to the meat store, he had also operated a catering business.  He was currently a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Palatka and had been an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Tequesta and St. Peter Catholic Church in Jupiter, where he had been active in the Knights of Columbus.  As his hobbies, Gene enjoyed cooking, writing, painting and various art-works. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Madeline Fusco Aloia, a son, Eugene Anthony Aloia, 2 brothers, Louis Aloia, Sr. and Ralph Aloia and a sister, Catherine Quaglio.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Matilda Aloia of San Mateo, a daughter, Marilynn Gauthier and husband, Chuck of San Mateo, a brother, Joseph Aloia of Jupiter, 4 grandchildren, Erika Middleton and husband, Kirk, Stephanie Reed and husband, Robert, Julie Gauthier (expecting with his great-grandchild) and Karla Gauthier, 3 great-grandchildren, R.J. Reed, David Reed, Cadence Reed and a step-great-grandchild, Hope Lowe. 

Memorial Mass will be recited at 3:30 PM, Monday, June 1, 2009 at St. Monica’s Catholic Church with Father Bob Napier officiating.  Burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date at Riverside Memorial Park in Tequesta, FL.
