LESLIE   L.  GAME 

   Leslie Lee Game, 77, of Palatka, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center following an extended illness.  A native of Trenton, North Carolina, he moved to Palatka in June 1971 after retiring from the U.S. Air Force.  He served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired as a staff sergeant after 22 years of service.  After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, Sgt. Game worked 21 years as a tug boat captain, having worked with Mr. F.V. Oliver at Revilo Oil Co. and also with Marvin Lane.  He was a member of the San Mateo Church of God and American Legion Post #293 in Interlachen.  As his hobbies, he enjoyed fishing and using his talent as a chef in the Air Force in cooking for family and church events and probably more so the fellowshipping with others at these gatherings.

    He was preceded in death by his parents John Henry Game and Sylvia Alphin Game,  a brother, William A. “Bill” Game and a sister, Rosa Lee Game.

    He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Georgia Game of Palatka; son, Thomas L. “Buddy” Game and wife, Carla of Belton, TX,; daughter, Sharon G. Fox and husband, Rob of  Welaka; brother, Jack Game and wife Pat of Palatka; sister, Lillian Lee of Hollister; 5 grandchildren, Jessica, Brandon, James, David and Taylor; great-grandson, Devyn, several nieces and nephews and friends who were like a brother and sister, Earl and Laura Keegan of Hollister as well as his very dear friend and comrade, Chaplain R.N. Hardin, Col. USAF, (Ret.) whom he first met in 1958 at Offutt AFB, Omaha, NE. and who has remained a close friend and mentor.     

     Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 18th at the Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Pastor Richard Sapp and Chaplain R.N. Hardin, Col. USAF (Ret.) officiating.  Burial with full military honors by the U.S. Air Force will follow at Palatka Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. 

     Flowers are gratefully accepted or memorial donations may be made to Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, 6400 St. Johns Ave., Palatka, FL  32177.

My family and I were brought in as part of the Game family since 1993. Les & Georgia were always so welcoming, as well as Sharon "Red", Rob, and of course Taylor. Les used to work for my dad part time, as a driver, so he got to see Jacob from the time he was in my belly until he was a quote "fine young man" We have had a many fine meals with the games. Les will surely be missed. He is in the arms of Jesus now
