WILLIAM S. JONES 

     William S. Jones, age 79, of Palatka, died Monday March 9, 2009 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center.  The Sayre, Alabama native had lived in Putnam County for the past 10 years, coming from Jacksonville where he lived for 20 years.  He was a member of Bethany Seventh Day Adventist Church in Palatka and was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War.  He was a member of V.F.W. Post #3349 and the Loyal Order of the Moose.  He had worked for several years as a salesman in the Beauty Supply industry.

     He is survived by his children, Steven P. Jones of Vacaville, California, Teresa L. Smith of Canton, Ga., Lori J. Sheppard, Stuart W. Jones, and W. Kyle Jones, all of Jacksonville; 9 grandchildren, Brian Jones, Stephanie Jones, Dr. Katherine Pepper, Royce Munn, Connor Sheppard, III, Melissa Sheppard, Nicholas Jones, Hunter Jones, and Kallie Jones.

     Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday March 13^th at the Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Pastor Richardo A. Daphnis officiating.  The U.S. Marine Corp will conduct military honors.  In celebration of his life, a memorial video will be shown and all are invited to a reception immediately following the service at the V.F.W. Post in Palatka.  Interment will take place at a later date in Jacksonville National Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at the Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.  Memorial donations can be made to the V.F.W. Post #3349 Canteen Fund, 3201 Reid Street, Palatka, Florida, 32177.
