RAYMOND GORNTO, JR. Raymond Gornto, Jr., age 79, of Palatka, died Tuesday March 3, 2009 at his home after a brief illness. He was a native of Grandin and a long time resident of Putnam County. He retired after 41 years from Hudson Pulp & Paper Company having worked as s shift supervisor on the No. 1 Kraft Paper Machine. He had also served in the Merchant Marines and when he was still able, he loved fishing and the beach. Most of all, he loved sitting on his porch watching his birds and spending time with his children. He is survived by a son, James Daniel Gornto of Bryson City, N.C.; 4 daughters, Patricia Ann Osborn & husband, Edward, Linda Donell Janiszewski & husband, John, Brenda Joyce Williams & husband, James, all of Palatka, and Paula Jean Lawrence & husband, David of Woodstock, Georgia; sister, Anna Christensen of Palatka; Aunt, Jeanette McGrath of Florahome; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday March 6th at the Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Mr. C.L. Overturf, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Paran Cemetery in Grandin. Friends may call Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
