WAYNE “LAMAR” MCNEILL, JR. Wayne Lamar McNeill, Jr., 42, of Palatka, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at his home. A native of Enterprise Alabama, he resided in Putnam County for 30 years coming from Bowling Green, Kentucky. Wayne had worked at Georgia Pacific and also as a truck driver with Delco Oil Company. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and football as well as going fishing and camping. He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Lamar McNeill, Sr. and his best friend John DuPont. He is survived by his wife, Diane Wilkinson McNeill of Palatka, his mother, Wilma McNeill of Palatka, 2 step-sons, Justin Ruark and Zachary Ruark of Bardin, 2 sisters, Sheila McNeill Kelly of Satsuma, and Veronica McNeill Stephens of State Road, NC, 2 brothers, Nicholas S. McNeill and Doyal Murphy of Palatka, a niece, several nephews, aunts and uncles. Services will be at 3:30 PM, Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Johnson Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Pastor Greg Crosby officiating. Burial will follow at Etoniah Cemetery in Bardin. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday at the funeral home. Flowers are gratefully accepted or contributions may be made to Johnson Overturf Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses.
